01

Project Overview

This project applied fluorescence-based fiber optic temperature sensing to selected locations around a generator stator winding assembly.

Multiple fiber optic temperature probes were arranged at defined stator winding points to provide direct temperature measurement during equipment operation.

The optical sensing arrangement allows individual winding locations to be monitored independently through separate measurement channels.

  • Direct stator winding temperature measurement
  • Multiple independent sensing points
  • Electrically isolated optical sensing
02

Stator Winding Monitoring Requirement

Generator stator windings operate under high electrical loading and strong electromagnetic fields. Temperature conditions can vary between different winding positions, slots and structural locations.

The project required direct temperature measurement at selected stator winding points without introducing conductive sensor wiring into the measurement locations.

A multi-point fiber optic sensing arrangement was therefore used to obtain temperature data from the selected stator positions.

03

Stator Measurement Point Arrangement

Fiber optic temperature probes were positioned at selected locations around the stator winding structure according to the required temperature monitoring points.

Each probe corresponds to an individual measurement position, allowing temperatures at different stator locations to be monitored separately.

The sensing point arrangement can be adapted according to winding construction, slot positions and the number of locations requiring direct temperature measurement.

  • Selected stator winding positions
  • Independent point temperature sensing
  • Multi-point winding temperature comparison
  • Configurable measurement point arrangement
04

Probe Routing & Mechanical Protection

Fiber optic probes were arranged around the stator winding structure while maintaining the required electrical and mechanical clearances.

Optical fibers were routed from the sensing points toward the external connection area with consideration for bending radius, mechanical protection and available routing space.

The optical sensing path provides temperature signal transmission without conductive electrical leads at the measurement points.

05

Multi-Channel Temperature Acquisition

Signals from the installed fiber optic probes are connected to a multi-channel temperature monitoring instrument.

Each sensing point is assigned to an individual optical channel so that temperatures from different stator locations can be viewed and compared separately.

The monitoring instrument provides centralized acquisition of temperature data from the selected stator winding measurement points.

06

Project Result

The completed sensing arrangement provides direct multi-point temperature measurement across selected generator stator winding locations.

Fiber optic probes, protected optical routing and multi-channel monitoring equipment form a complete temperature measurement path from the stator sensing points to the monitoring interface.

This configuration provides a practical reference for generators and other rotating electrical machines requiring electrically isolated winding temperature measurement in strong electromagnetic environments.
