Project Overview

This project used a fiber optic temperature controller for local temperature monitoring of a dry-type transformer.

Fiber optic temperature probes installed on the transformer are connected to the controller through optical channels. The controller receives the temperature signals and provides local temperature display together with alarm and control functions.

The field installation provides operators with a direct local interface for transformer temperature monitoring.

Monitoring Requirement

The dry-type transformer required continuous temperature monitoring at selected measurement points.

The monitoring arrangement needed to receive signals from electrically isolated fiber optic temperature probes and provide clear local temperature information for operating personnel.

Alarm and control functions were also required for connection with the transformer temperature management system.

Fiber Optic Monitoring Configuration

Fiber optic temperature probes provide point temperature measurement at selected transformer locations.

Optical fibers transmit the measurement signals to the external temperature controller. The controller processes the optical signals and displays the corresponding temperature values locally.

The monitoring configuration includes:

Controller & Channel Functions

Each optical input channel corresponds to a defined temperature measurement point on the transformer.

The controller allows individual channels to be viewed separately through the local display, making it possible to identify the temperature status of different monitored locations.

Alarm and control outputs can be configured according to the transformer monitoring requirements and the selected controller model.

Field Installation

The fiber optic temperature controller was installed in a local enclosure near the dry-type transformer.

Optical sensor cables were connected to the corresponding controller channels, while the display remained accessible to operating personnel for local temperature monitoring.

The controller installation provides a centralized interface between the transformer-mounted fiber optic sensors and the local monitoring and control functions.

Project Result

The completed installation provides local temperature monitoring for the dry-type transformer through a fiber optic sensing path.

Temperature signals from the installed optical probes are collected by the controller and displayed through the local interface, with alarm and control functions available for the transformer monitoring arrangement.

This configuration provides a practical reference for dry-type transformers requiring electrically isolated multi-point temperature sensing and local temperature indication.
